British film producer and studio executive. From 1979 to 1983, he was the European production executive and managing director at 20th Century Fox Productions. In 1979, aged 31, he became managing director of Twentieth Century Fox Productions, based in London and overseeing all Fox production outside the US. He was closely involved with the production of Chariots of Fire, The Empire Strikes Back and Omen III: The Final Conflict. In 1983 he produced Ridley Scott’s fantasy Legend, starring Tom Cruise, which was notable for a fire which destroyed the entire set on the 007 stage at Pinewood. He returned to Fox as vice-president of Worldwide Productions, overseeing films including Alien and The Jewel of the Nile.
