    The Library

The library is situated in the Chapel Block and is a welcoming and positive environment which is open to both students and staff, providing space for independent study, quiet work, or simply to read and relax.

It aims to reflect the educational culture of the school by providing resources to support academic growth and to encourage a love of reading for pleasure, through a varied collection of both fiction and non-fiction. Our book selections aim to appeal to a range of tastes and interests, and we welcome requests for titles. BWS subscribes to the Schools Library Service which includes free access, for all our students, to the digital library app Sora.

    Sora: The Digital Library

Sora, The digital library gives all our students access to an extensive collection of age-appropriate eBooks, audio books, comics and magazines, via their Teams login. There are also eBooks and magazines available in a selection of Modern Foreign Languages.

All eBooks on Sora can be adapted to a dyslexia friendly font, and students can alter the print size and the page colour to individual preferences - eBooks are automatically returned eliminating late fees and offline reading/listening allows for on the go access.

    Inductions & library lessons

Induction sessions to the library and Sora are held for all Year 7s at the start of the academic year. Lower School students attend fortnightly library lessons as part of their English curriculum to support the school’s ‘Reading Passports’ scheme.
