Students with SEND at BWS receive support based on their level of need, these 'Tiers of support' work alongside external requirements such as those required by an EHCP.
*All students with an EHCP are Tier One
Tier one students receive bespoke support as their needs require specific interventions with staff both inside and outside of lessons. All students with Tier One support have a personalised learning plan which accounts for their strengths, areas of development alongside appropriate modifications for classroom practice. Parents of students with this level of support will have, at minimum, an annual meeting with the SENDCo to re-asses their plans and reflect on provision.
Support may include:
Tier two students have specific requirements, but these needs can be met within the universal offer. Teaching staff at BWS are skilled and experienced practitioners who can adapt lessons suitably and meeting the needs of SEND students is a regular topic at INSET days and after-school meetings for staff where updates to practice are shared.
When students require it, additional elements from the list of support available in Tier One are also applied.
