Prefects at BWS

At BWS opportunities for student leadership are a bedrock of our community. Prefects assist in the daily running of school life, from helping to set up assemblies to organising large-scale events such as Cathedral Services and house competitions. A prefect’s aim is to make Bishop’s a better place for all the students and being a prefect can help develop skills for use in later life, not to mention UCAS applications(!).

Prefect Team Structure

Our prefect team is large and thriving with over 40 opportunities for student leadership in year 12 and 13 as well a host of mentoring and other roles. There are a wide range of roles available, from specific subject prefects, to roles such as Chapel Prefects, who assist in delivering chapel assemblies, and Library Prefects, who help to run the library and pass their love of literature to the lower years.

Our most reliable and enthusiastic students are nominated as senior prefects. This section includes the ‘Top 6’, roles that have extra responsibilities and regular meetings with the Senior Leaders of the School including Head Master.
